our story

Friendlier was founded by Kayli and Jacquie, two Chemical Engineering graduates with a passion for environmental sustainability. After meeting before their first-ever lecture at the University of Waterloo, they became inseparable through late-night study sessions, lab experiments gone wrong, and dreaming up crazy ideas to problems they saw in their everyday lives.

During their studies and throughout their co-op terms in the industry, they were disheartened to see that environmental sustainability was not a priority for most corporations. Even though they gained valuable experience, they were left feeling unfulfilled and wanted to challenge perceptions around sustainability.

So, when the opportunity to study abroad came up in their third year, they jumped at the chance to learn from a new perspective and traveled to Sweden. They were introduced to a culture focused on minimalism and environmental sustainability, which fuelled their fire to live more purposeful lives.

When graduation came along and it was time to set new goals, they decided they couldn’t live and work in a world where the climate
crisis was not a priority. Friendlier was founded because Kayli and Jacquie felt it was time to be Friendlier to our planet.

The pair quickly grew the company to support over 150 businesses across  Ontario. With the support of industry experts and leading accelerator programs, they have quickly become Canada’s fastest-growing reuse company.

who we are

OUR MISSION

To simplify the world’s transition from single-use to reusable packaging. Is single-use packaging really necessary?

OUR VISION

To create the world’s leading reusable packaging company by closing the loop between make and dispose, and become the household name in the reuse industry. Read how it all started in our blog!

OUR VALUES

Empower - Empower people to be the best version of themselves through knowledge

Challenge - challenge the status quo and defy expectations to create sustainable solutions

Transparency - to be transparent with our employees and the community every step of the way

Unite - unite people with the common goal of being Friendlier to our planet

why reusable packaging?

single-use containers

The growing takeout food sector results in many single-use containers being discarded every year. Recycling is often not possible, so takeout packaging most often ends up in landfills.

 containers

Our reusable food containers and centralized reuse system keep resources in circulation longer, reducing waste in the landfills, making the most out of every resource harvested.

We can stop the patterns that are harmful to our environment by designing efficient reuse systems and by eliminating sources of waste throughout our economic chains.

Reduce waste by eliminating single-use products. That can be done by redesigning how our economy works and offering innovative solutions to food businesses.

ELIMINATE WASTE AND POLLUTION

We aim to food packaging in circulation instead of tossing it out after every meal. Reusable takeout containers can be used hundreds of times!
